BY-ELECTION DAY IS AUGUST 31
Hello neighbours,
I am proud and honoured to be your NDP candidate in the upcoming federal by-election in Beaches–East York.
Like you, I have been deeply concerned about the federal government dropping its commitment to fighting climate change and gutting environmental protections – especially this summer when our air is unsafe to breathe and thousands of Canadians are losing their homes and livelihoods to unrelenting forest fires.
Beaches–East York is an incredible place to live and work, and home to so many wonderful people. I am proud of our community, our shared commitment to collective responsibility, and how we look out for each other and our natural surroundings. What is also true is: life is still too hard here for too many and our federal government is taking us in the wrong direction.
In 2025, many progressive Canadians cast their vote for the Liberal candidates out of fear of electing a Conservative government and very real anxiety over the trade war with the United States.
It turns out the Mark Carney government is more conservative than many actual Conservative governments, leaving many feeling betrayed while the cost of living soars.
Beaches–East York deserves an MP who believes things can and should be better.
If I have the honour of representing you in Parliament, I commit to:
Freely speaking out on federal decisions that impact Beaches–East York and Toronto. As an NDP candidate I can’t (and won’t) be silenced by a top-down Carney government
Advocating for the return of climate and environmental protections
Ensuring the Liberals keep their word on Billy Bishop Airport, instead of making more backroom deals with Doug Ford
Firmly opposing new pipeline projects
Calling for diplomatic and economic solutions to end Canada’s complicity in the genocide in Palestine
Fighting hard for the things our community needs
Affordable rent and housing
Bringing down costs on groceries and other essentials
More good jobs
Pharmacare and dental care for those who need it
Affordable child care
Taking my direction from you. For you.
If you still have questions or you’re not sure how you’re going to vote on August 31, let’s talk! Here’s how to reach me directly.
If we work together, I know we can win this.
